Patient Awards and Scholarships
2010-2011 KUFA Scholarship and Award Applications - Now Available
The Kidney & Urology Foundation of America is proud to offer a scholarship and awards program for kidney and urology patients. One of only a few such initiatives in the country, our Scholarship & Patient Awards program is designed to stimulate education, enable rehabilitation and allow individuals to live productively with renal and urologic disease. Academic scholarships and awards for individual recognition are among the opportunities available through the Scholarship & Awards program. Patients of various ages, backgrounds, interests and strengths have an opportunity to apply for one of these awards. Please review the details below to determine which award is most suitable for you.
NEW: The Quality of Life Grant (for healthcare facilities)
This award is for renal, transplant and urology centers (the grant may be used, for example, to fund patient and caregiver support groups, patient emergencies, holiday parties, center “sunshine funds” or to help expand reading libraries).
Recipient centers will be presented with a check for $250, to be applied to their patient services fund, and a certificate saluting their achievement.
Kidney & Urology Foundation of America Scholarship Award
This award is for college-bound patients (aged 17-25) with kidney or urologic disease whose academic career would benefit from financial assistance.
Recipients can receive up to $2,000 per year (renewable for up to 4 years maximum).
New Day Education & Rehabilitation Award
This award is for patients 25 years or older who are attending or returning to school to complete a degree, obtain professional certification, learn a new job skill, change careers, or seek physical rehabilitation.
Recipients can receive up to $1,500 per year to support their schooling (renewable for up to 4 years maximum).
Covelli Family Achievement Award
This award is for young patients who deserve to be recognized for having improved their academic or life skills.
Recipients will be granted up to $500 as well as a certificate acknowledging their achievements.
Bright Star Recognition Award
This award is for patients or family members who deserve to be recognized for their courage, strength, determination, generosity of spirit or kindness.
Recipients will be presented with a check for $250 and a certificate saluting their achievements.
