A letter from the parent
of one of KUFA's scholarship recipients...
Just a status update I knew all of you and KUFA would appreciate hearing about.
Brittany just graduated in May with her Master?s Degree from Boston University School of Public Health in two areas of concentration:
1. Epidemiology
2. Health Policy and Management
She was home (in Fl) with family for the summer while she began the search for work. This past weekend I helped her move in to her apartment in Cambridge, MA. She just landed her first job and I think you all would be most happy to know what it is and where...
Beginning next week (9-17-12), Brittany will be the new Clinical Trials Coordinator at Boston Children?s Hospital Renal Transplantation Division working with Harvard clinical trial studies led by Dr. William Harmon, Director of Pediatric Nephrology at BCH and Professor of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School. His main research interests deal with Pathophysiology and treatment of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in children, Clinical Trials, Novel Immuno-suppression. Tolerance induction.
Brittany, being a transplant patient herself, feels that she will provide a wealth of personal contribution from a patient perspective as she manages the clinical trials processes. She is so excited.
I knew that it would warm the hearts of those financial contributors to the scholarship fund to know that Brittany has dedicated herself to helping improve the lives of children, like herself, and improve the quality of life for patients in a goal to make renal transplants more successful and improve survival of grafts.
Thank you for all the help that KUFA has provided in educating Brittany. She enjoyed attending the conference in NY a while back and actually having the opportunity to meet everyone.
Thanks so very much!
Sincerely,
Diann Fisher (mom) and Brittany A. Fisher
