MARCH 25TH: NKDEP, HEALTH AND FAITH PARTNERS COLLABORATE FOR NATIONAL KIDNEY SUNDAYS EVENT
NKDEP will recognize National Kidney Month in 2012 with a joint faith-community and health advocacy campaign featuring NKDEP’s Kidney Sundays initiative. Kidney Sundays encourages African-American faith organizations to help their congregations make the kidney connection by including kidney health messages in programs and events. The Kidney Sundays Toolkit provides faith leaders with the tools and materials they need to host events and encourage kidney disease testing and other healthy behaviors.
NKDEP, in partnership with the American Diabetes Association Live Empowered Program, the National Coalition of Pastors’ Spouses, and Chi Eta Phi National Sorority, Inc., will engage dozens of churches across the country to host Kidney Sundays events on March 25, 2012. In addition to using the Kidney Sundays Toolkit to discuss kidney health and its risk factors, Chi Eta Phi member nurses will conduct health screenings at the participating churches.
