Pathology Potpourri An Evening for Nephrologists

On Tuesday, May 1, 2007, the Kidney & Urology Foundation presented ‘Pathology Potpourri: An Evening for Nephrologists’ at the Frog and the Peach restaurant in New Brunswick, NJ.  The program was chaired and moderated by Richard Mann, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine, Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, and Medical Director, Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Program at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.  Two prominent renal pathologists, Billy Fyfe, MD, Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UMDNJ-RWJ Medical School and KUFA Medical Advisory Board member, Surya Seshan, MD, Chief, Renal Pathology at New York Presbyterian Hospital and Professor of Pathology at Weill Medical College offered presentations on 5 interesting/difficult cases, including history, biopsy results and clinical discussions. The educational objective for the session was to identify clinical variabilities of disease processes and diagnostic pathologic findings of glomerular, tubulo-interstitial and vascular diseases in native and transplant kidney biopsies.  Development of differential diagnoses of renal and multi-systemic diseases affecting the kidney, as well as new therapies and protocol, based on clinical and pathologic data were discussed.
